Inspired the colors of alpine wildflowers. Dreamy tanzanite, phosphosiderite, and kyanite are accented with silver elements. The perfect pop of color. Finished with a lobster clasp and adjustable length chain closure. Measures 7 1/4-8". Sterling silver, which has been oxidized and hand polished for an antique finish.

About tanzanite: Tanzanite is a highly coveted gemstone because it occurs in only one place worldwide. Tanzanite was discovered in Tanzania, Africa in 1967. It is known for its mysterious blue color with a tinge of purple. Thanks to its unusual color and the help of the New York jeweler's Tiffany & Co., it has rapidly become one of the most coveted gemstones in the world.

While tanzanite's most desirable color as a gemstone is a deep blue to violet-blue, the stone also frequently comes in shades of lavender, lilac and periwinkle blue.

About Phosphosiderite: Phosphosiderite is definitely a mouthful to say, but essentially means that this stone is a combination of phosphorous and iron. Phosphosiderite is often found in shades of pink, purple, lilac, red, or brown. This is a relatively rare stone and can be found in only a couple of places in the world. Many believe that phosphosiderite holds universal power and is often used in meditation. It is thought that this stone brings happiness, relaxation, and restores emotional equilibrium.

About Kyanite:  The name Kyanite derives from the Greek word kyanos, meaning blue. Kyanite has a deep silvery blue similar to blue sapphire at its best. Kyanite is an interesting gem that was discovered during the nineteenth century. Kyanite is found in mountainous regions in the United States (Montana and North Carolina), Switzerland, Brazil and Myanmar. It was once believed that a kyanite suspended from a human hair could follow the earth's magnetic force. Early travelers sometimes used it as a compass when exploring unknown territories.

FAQ

What is this jewelry made of?

I use quality sterling silver, 14k gold fill and 14k gold.  Occasionally I throw in some bronze, copper or brass.  I use all natural gemstones, some have been treated to enhance color.

About 14k gold fill: 14K gold filled wire is a professional jewelers grade wire. Gold filled wire is not plated. It is a tube of solid 14K gold mechanically bonded to a brass or silver base. There is 100 times more gold in gold filled than in gold plate wire. This layer of gold must be a minimum of 1/20th of the total metal weight to be called gold filled. The color looks exactly like 14k gold. It is tarnish-resistant, safe for sensitive skin and unlike gold plate, it will not wear off. It is a great way to enjoy affordable gold jewelry.
