Stone goodness. Bright lemon chrysoprase is paired with turquoise and silver accents. Uniquely Southwest. Finished with a lobster clasp and adjustable length chain closure. Measures 7 1/4-8". Sterling silver.
About Chrysoprase: The name chrysoprase has been derived from a Greek word "chrysos prason," which literally means ‘gold leek’. Chrysoprase has been called a "Victory Stone”, after stories of Alexander the Great carriying the stone in his belt during his 11 year winning streak. In the 18th century, as said, thieves used to become invisible by keeping the stone in their mouth. Chrysoprase is rumored to help one tap into inner courage and provides the wisdom to use it wisely, especially when one is acting on one's convictions.
Turquoise, the gemstone worn by pharaohs and Aztec kings, is probably one of the oldest gemstones known. Native Americans and many of the Indian tribes in Mexico used turquoise for currency, and the stone is still associated with the religious rites of the Navajo. Because it remains fashionable, turquoise is quite highly prized, although it is fairly plentiful.
