About Malachite: The name Malachite may come from the Greek word malakee, or malache, signifying the resemblance of Mallow leaves, or from the Greek word malakos, meaning soft.Well known to ancient Egyptians, Malachite mines were in use between the Suez and Sinai as early as 4000 B.C. It was also popular with the ancient Greeks and Romans, for jewelry, ornaments, and in powdered form, for eye shadow. In the Middle Ages, Malachite was believed to protect against the "Evil Eye" and to cure various stomach ailments. Russian czars used Malachite for ornaments and paneling for their castles, and intricate inlay work. Malachite is a protection stone, absorbing negative energies and pollutants from the atmosphere and from the body.

About Jasper:  The name jasper comes from the Greek meaning "spotted stone". It can be spotted or striped depending on the foreign minerals included.  Jasper is a microcrystalline variety of Quartz. It comes in many different colors and is found all over the world. Jasper is an important stone to the spiritual practices of the Native Americans.

Jasper is one of the most protective gemstones.  It is a stone of gentleness and relaxation. It helps ground and balance one's body and spirit. It absorbs negative energy and brings courage and determination.

About Mookaite:  Mookaite is an Australian Jasper of bold, earthy beauty with a fiery fusion of red and yellow energies.  Mookaite Jasper is found only in the Kennedy Ranges of Western Australia in outcroppings near Mooka Creek, the area for which it is named. The Aboriginal term “Mooka” means “running waters” and refers to the numerous springs that feed into this area. Mookaite promotes an ageless spirit willing to accept change and seek new experiences, and awakens one’s natural instincts in knowing the right direction to take.

FAQ

What is this jewelry made of?

I use quality sterling silver, 14k gold fill and 14k gold.  Occasionally I throw in some bronze, copper or brass.  I use all natural gemstones, some have been treated to enhance color.

About 14k gold fill: 14K gold filled wire is a professional jewelers grade wire. Gold filled wire is not plated. It is a tube of solid 14K gold mechanically bonded to a brass or silver base. There is 100 times more gold in gold filled than in gold plate wire. This layer of gold must be a minimum of 1/20th of the total metal weight to be called gold filled. The color looks exactly like 14k gold. It is tarnish-resistant, safe for sensitive skin and unlike gold plate, it will not wear off. It is a great way to enjoy affordable gold jewelry.
