Vibrant and bright amazonite and lapis hang in a fringe style below a hand stamped Southwest  inspired triangle pendant. The pendant is attached to soft leather giving it a fun bohemian feel. The perfect summer statement piece. The necklace has a slide in the back, so you can wear it at any length. Sterling silver, which has been oxidized and hand polished for an antique finish.

I support Navajo stamp makers by purchasing their traditionally made metal stamps to create my southwestern themed designs.

About Lapis: Lapis is a semiprecious stone valued for its deep-blue color caused by the presence of the mineral lazurite, which is the source of the pigment ultramarine. Lapis is an ancient stone with history that dates back to ancient Egypt, where it was used as a favorite stone for amulets and ornaments such as scarabs; it was also used by the Assyrians and Babylonians for seals. Lapis jewelry has been found at excavations of the Predynastic Egyptian site Naqada (3300–3100 BC), and powdered lapis was used as eyeshadow by Cleopatra. In Medieval times, lapis was used as pigment for artists’ paint.

About Amazonite:  Amazonite is a type of feldspar, ranging in color from bright green to bluish green.   Like most gems, amazonite has a colorful folklore. Said to have been worn or named after the Amazon women warriors during the Bronze Age, amazonite was also reported to have been used by the Egyptians. Although its' name is derived from the Amazon River, no deposits have been found there!  Amazonite is known to help filter out stresses, and aids in communicating truth to others.
