Favorite Customs From 2024
Wide Ruby Silver Band Ring & 14 Karat Gold Ring
For this custom, I had a wonderful lady came into my shop with inspirations of creating a custom wedding ring & band combination. She wanted mixed metals, wide design, and a balance between being modern and rustic. I had her peruse my stone collection and she picked this gorgeous purple ruby. I then went to work! I set the stone in 14 karat gold on a sleek hammered wide silver band. I wanted the band to play with the mixed metal style so we decided on a simple 14 karat gold stacking ring. I love the simple beauty of this ring!! The customer as also such a sweetheart, which my job that much easier ;)
Gold Birthstone Ring
There is nothing quite like working with solid 14 karat gold. It always just turns out so elegant! For this custom, a husband walked into my shop and wanted to create something special for his partner. I had him choose the birthstones and the stamping he wanted to adorn the thin band ring. I set to work and this beauty came to life! It was everything he was hoping to surprise his partner with.
Horse Bridal "Conchos"
If you would have told me at the beginning at the year that I was going to make intricate pieces for horses, I would have laughed. But these bridal conchos ended up being some of my favorite pieces of the year! I had a sweet woman message via Etsy and say that she loved my slight southwestern style and wondered if I could make some decorative conchos for her horse. Over the year, we designed 4 separate conchos all with their own little personalities. The first two were a play off the sun and moon. The third one was a trio of dreamy turquoise flowers, and the fourth was a turquoise dragonfly. Each of them presented their own unique set of issues to problem solve, and it ended up being a fun way to challenge my skills!
Mixed Metal Chalcedony Logo Necklace
This was such a fun project! A mother had walked into my shop and wanted to buy her daughter something to celebrate her opening her own therapy practice. She happened to show me the website, which had her logo and we had an idea- lets recreate her logo as a necklace. I had the mom pick out the stone, and then I used a combination of metals to get as close as possible to the logo. It turned out perfect and was such a unique way to celebrate such a special milestone.
Big & Bold Necklaces
These pieces were a challenge- and I loved it! I love when a custom project allows me to have to think, problem solve, and test what I am able to do. For both of these pieces, two of my lovely regulars wanted something big and bold. I had each of them choose their stone(s) and we ran with some design ideas. I cannot get enough of these mesmerizing stones. The bezels gave me some trouble, but I think it was definitely worth it. Two gorgeous pieces that will always make a statement and light up a room just like the wonderful women who wear them.
Southwestern Cuff
I love a good southwest style cuff! For this custom, a man came in and wanted to find a cuff for his fiancee as an extra little something before their wedding. I had him pick his stone, and then I went ahead and started drafting up some designs. We decided on this beauty. A layered flower setting on a thick stamped cuff. LOVE.
"Push Present" Ruby Gold Necklace
While I will always setting rubies in gold, the story behind this piece made this one of my favorite customs of the year. A husband came in and wanted to buy a "push present" for his wife whom was due with their first baby in July. We picked out three rubies for the three of them, and I went to work! You can't see it from this picture, but he wanted to add a bat on the back because bats are his wife's favorite animal. How cute! The best part was he came back in with his little family so we could meet his wife and new son!
Opal Band Ring Redo
I always love a good excuse to set multiple stones in a piece. For this custom, one of my regulars had an antique cuff with these opals in it and wanted to do something with them. He loves silver rings so I took the stones out of the cuff and set to work drafting ideas for a big, silver ring. Getting this design to line up gave me some trouble, but it was totally worth it. A true statement.
Sunflower Cuff
Sunflowers were my favorite new design this year! I made quite a few versions of it, but this custom is one I can't get out of my head. One of my regulars came in and wanted one of my sunflower cuffs. She wanted a yellow stone so she picked out the last one I had. A labor of love later, and this stunning cuff came alive. She wears it when she comes visit my shop all the time... I love seeing my "old friends" come back to visit.
Family Heirloom Stone Necklace
While faceted stones are not my specialty, one of my customers came into my shop and wanted me to make a necklace using some stones that have been in the family. I drafted up some ideas using both of the stones as one pendant, and this was the final choice! I actually love the modern faceted style with the rustic stamped leaves.
Bear Claw Pendants
This is another custom where if you told me at the beginning of the year that I would be making bear claws into pendants, I would have laughed. But here we are! A man walked into my shop and needed these big bear claws made into something he could put onto chains. Simple yet definitely a memorable moment from the year!
Mission "Replace Favorite Necklace That Went Missing"
This was a fun custom! Someone had reached out to me via Etsy from Europe. His partner had lost her favorite necklace and was wondering if I could recreate it. He sent me the best picture he could of what it had looked like and I set to work picking out the stone and the style. It was kind of like a compass with a blue stone set in the middle. I love how it turned out and might even offer this as a design on my website!
Grandchildren Birthstone Bracelet
One of my regulars came into my shop and her birthday was coming up so she wanted to make something special. She has two grandchildren both born in November so we decided on a initial style design with a citrine set on it's own charm. So sweet!
Family Heirloom Diamond Ring
Of course, there is nothing quite like a diamond set in yellow gold. For this custom, a family came into my shop and wanted to reuse a pendant that had been in the family for some time. The original pendant was asymmetrical white gold with this diamond in it. They wanted to use the diamond to make a ring for their daughter for Christmas. I took the stone out, and we decided on a simple 14 karat gold setting on a 14k gold fill band. Easy elegance- and the daughter loved it!
Sunflower Ring
This was my last official custom of 2024! Another sunflower design for one of my regulars. They wanted my sunflower design as a statement ring. She picked out this gorgeous piece of turquoise and off I ran with it. Just dreamy!
