About Mohave Turquoise: Named after the Mohave County in Arizona, this stone is a playful twist on the popular Southwestern turquoise. Mohave turquoise is a mix of bronze and turquoise and due to the stabilizing process, often comes in intense colors of purple, orange, and blue. This stone is thought to be calming and positive.
About Spiny Oyster: Spiny oysters, with their wonderful warm colors, are often found in Native American jewelry of the Southwest. Their vast array of colors include pink, red, orange, brown, yellow, purple, and white. The Spiny Oyster shell has been used for adornment since ancient times and artifacts have been found in the sites of the Aztecs, Anasazi, Mogollon and Hohokam.
About Turquoise: The name turquoise means "Turkish stone" because the trade route that brought it to Europe came via Turkey. Turquoise is a non-translucent stone of which the most valuable specimens are robin's egg blue or deep-blue azure. It also comes in brown, yellow, and many shades of green. The veins are inclusions from nearby rock fragments or oxides that form during the creation of turquoise.
Turquoise, the gemstone worn by pharaohs and Aztec kings, is probably one of the oldest gemstones known. Native Americans and many of the Indian tribes in Mexico used turquoise for currency, and the stone is still associated with the religious rites of the Navajo. Because it remains fashionable, turquoise is quite highly prized, although it is fairly plentiful.
About Amethyst: Amethyst is a violet variety of quartz. The name comes from the Ancient Geek “methustos” ("intoxicated"), a reference to the belief that the stone protected its owner from drunkeness; the ancient Greeks and Romans wore amethyst and made drinking vessels of it in the belief that it would prevent intoxication. Amethyst is renowned for bringing a sense of calm and clarity to our chaotic world.
About 14k gold fill: 14K gold filled wire is a professional jewelers grade wire. Gold filled wire is not plated. It is a tube of solid 14K gold mechanically bonded to a brass or silver base. There is 100 times more gold in gold filled than in gold plate wire. This layer of gold must be a minimum of 1/20th of the total metal weight to be called gold filled. The color looks exactly like 14k gold. It is tarnish-resistant, safe for sensitive skin and unlike gold plate, it will not wear off. It is a great way to enjoy affordable gold jewelry.
