Rustic charm with a touch of easy femininity. Dreamy sea sediment jasper tubes are stacked with serene kyanite and bright olivine jade and dangle below hand forged silver hoops. Dainty yet substantial. Handmade Shepherd hook earwires. Measure about 1 3/4”. Sterling silver, which has been oxidized and hand polished for an antique finish.

About Olivine Jade:  Olivine Jade is somewhat translucent and color ranges from a light olive to a deep forest green.  Both beautiful and durable, jade has been used since prehistoric times for its ornamental and practical qualities.  Since at least 2950 BC, jade has been treasured in China as the royal gemstone, yu. The word yu is used in Chinese to call something precious, as in English we use gold.

About Kyanite:  The name Kyanite derives from the Greek word kyanos, meaning blue. Kyanite has a deep silvery blue similar to blue sapphire at its best. Kyanite is an interesting gem that was discovered during the nineteenth century. Kyanite is found in mountainous regions in the United States (Montana and North Carolina), Switzerland, Brazil and Myanmar. It was once believed that a kyanite suspended from a human hair could follow the earth's magnetic force. Early travelers sometimes used it as a compass when exploring unknown territories.

About Sea Sediment Jasper:  Sea Sediment Jasper is only one of the names for this absolutely gorgeous stone that is also referred to as : "Aqua Terra Jasper" (the blue & green colors), "Impression Jasper" (for it does make quite the impression), "Snakeskin Jasper", as well as "Variscite" and "Regalite". This stone has proven to be somewhat of a mystery. We know that it is a natural jasper material from Africa that has a somewhat jelly-like lustre resembling Natural Turquoise-- but no one in the market knows what exactly to call it yet! Jasper was a favorite gem in ancient times and is referenced in Hebrew, Assyrian and Latin literature. It is a fine-grained chalcedony and comes in all colors. The name jasper comes from the Greek and means "spotted stone."

Your jewelry will arrive beautifully gift wrapped in a small box. Multiple items will be combined, unless separate boxes are requested. If this is a gift being shipped directly to the recipient, please let me know. I will be glad to include a note from you.

FAQ

What is this jewelry made of?

I use quality sterling silver, 14k gold fill and 14k gold.  Occasionally I throw in some bronze, copper or brass.  I use all natural gemstones, some have been treated to enhance color.

About 14k gold fill: 14K gold filled wire is a professional jewelers grade wire. Gold filled wire is not plated. It is a tube of solid 14K gold mechanically bonded to a brass or silver base. There is 100 times more gold in gold filled than in gold plate wire. This layer of gold must be a minimum of 1/20th of the total metal weight to be called gold filled. The color looks exactly like 14k gold. It is tarnish-resistant, safe for sensitive skin and unlike gold plate, it will not wear off. It is a great way to enjoy affordable gold jewelry.
