Full of mystery and magic. A mesmerizing black ethiopian opal is set on a tapered band with little stamped accents. This stone loves to throw a subtle but dreamy flash. Sterling silver. Size 5 3/4. Size is final. This is a one of a kind ring- this ring cannot be resized. If it is not your size, but you would like one, please email me because there are more stones although they do very slightly. As with all Ethiopian opals, you want to wear them with care- avoiding water as much as possible.

About Ethiopian Opals:  Opal was formed many millions of years ago, when a combination of silica and water flowed into cracks and spaces in the ground. This then gradually hardened and solidified to become opal. Opal is the traditional birthstone for October.

Ethiopian opal is believed to be an old gemstone. In 1939, an anthropologist found evidence of use of the opal by early man in a cave in Kenya. It was not until the mid 1990s when the opal was re-discovered and mining was begun.  It is believed to enhance creativity and stimulate the imagination.

Your jewelry will arrive beautifully gift wrapped in a small box. Multiple items will be combined, unless separate boxes are requested. You will be able to complete this request during check out. If this is a gift being shipped directly to the recipient, you can use the gift box option during check out to include the gift message. If you do not use the gift option, there is no way for me to know these are gifts and your pieces will be wrapped together in one box.

FAQ

What is this jewelry made of?

I use quality sterling silver, 14k gold fill and 14k gold.  Occasionally I throw in some bronze, copper or brass.  I use all natural gemstones, some have been treated to enhance color.

About 14k gold fill: 14K gold filled wire is a professional jewelers grade wire. Gold filled wire is not plated. It is a tube of solid 14K gold mechanically bonded to a brass or silver base. There is 100 times more gold in gold filled than in gold plate wire. This layer of gold must be a minimum of 1/20th of the total metal weight to be called gold filled. The color looks exactly like 14k gold. It is tarnish-resistant, safe for sensitive skin and unlike gold plate, it will not wear off. It is a great way to enjoy affordable gold jewelry.

Are these pieces really handmade?
