Full of mystery and magic. A mesmerizing black ethiopian opal is set on a tapered band with little stamped accents. This stone loves to throw a subtle but dreamy flash. Sterling silver. Size 5 3/4. As with all Ethiopian opals, you want to wear them with care- avoiding water as much as possible. 

About Ethiopian Opals:  Opal was formed many millions of years ago, when a combination of silica and water flowed into cracks and spaces in the ground. This then gradually hardened and solidified to become opal. Opal is the traditional birthstone for October. 

Ethiopian opal is believed to be an old gemstone. In 1939, an anthropologist found evidence of use of the opal by early man in a cave in Kenya. It was not until the mid 1990s when the opal was re-discovered and mining was begun.  It is believed to enhance creativity and stimulate the imagination.
